Basic concepts of cold drawn steel pipes
Cold drawn steel pipe is a steel pipe made through precision cold drawing process. It has the characteristics of high precision, high strength, light weight, corrosion resistance and easy processing. Compared with ordinary steel pipes, the production process of cold-drawn steel pipes is more complex and requires higher precision and quality control, so its price is relatively high.
Cold drawn steel pipe production process flow
1. Smelting and continuous casting
The first step in producing cold drawn steel pipes is smelting and continuous casting.
2. Blank straightening and deburring
The surface of the billet after continuous casting often has various defects such as cracks, folds, and rust, which require straightening and deburring.
3. Cold drawing processing
The straightened and deburred blank can be cold drawn. Cold drawing processing is a process of compressing and stretching the blank through a special mold, which can gradually process the blank into a finished tube of required specifications and shapes.
4. Heat treatment and tempering
Cold drawn steel pipes require heat treatment and quenching and tempering.
5. Testing and Inspection
The final step is testing and inspection. The inspection mainly includes appearance inspection and performance inspection.
