Grain Oriented Electrical Steel

GO (Grain-Oriented) Electrical Steel is a specialized type of electrical steel that is engineered for use in the construction of electrical transformers and other electromagnetic devices. It is characterized by its unique grain-oriented crystal structure, in which the crystal grains within the material are aligned predominantly in one direction. This precise grain orientation enhances its magnetic properties and makes it highly efficient for directing and conducting magnetic flux.

Reduced Magnetostriction: GO Silicon Steel has minimal magnetostrictive properties, meaning it undergoes only slight dimensional changes when subjected to magnetic fields. This characteristic helps reduce mechanical vibrations and audible noise in transformers, ensuring quieter and more stable operation.

Cold Rolled Grain Oriented Electrical Steel (GOES) is designed to aid electrical transformers with efficiency and to help make them more more economical. To explain, this works by the iron-silicon alloys providing low core loss and high permeability. A key benefit is that they’re available in several different grades. What’s more, the steels have superior magnetic properties in the rolling direction of the grain. This means they are ideal in transformer cores, such as those within large generators. In comparison to grain made out of other parts – such as regular Stainless Steel, GOES is much more efficient.
