ASTM A533 Pressure Vessel Boiler Steel Plate

ASTM A533 boiler vessel plate is a manganese-molybdenum and manganese-molybdenum-nickel Alloy Steel Plate suitable for use in welded pressure vessels. It is often supplied in a quenched and tempered heat treatment, i.e., tempered transitions.ASTM A533 boiler vessel steel is available in five different strength classes: Class A, Class B, Class C, Class D, and Class E. The classes are further divided into three grades: Class 1, Class 2, and Class 3. Each class has three further grades: Class 1, Class 2, and Class 3. The lower limit of nominal thickness for all ASTM A533 boiler vessel plate is 0.25 inches, or 6.5 mm.

The upper thickness limit for Class 1 and Class 2 ASTM A533 boiler vessel plate is limited only by the ability of the chemical composition to meet specified mechanical property requirements. However, it is now common to limit the thickness of Class A/B/C/D ASTM A533 boiler plate to 12 inches, i.e., 300 mm, and to limit the thickness of Class E ASTM A533 boiler plate to 7 inches, i.e., 180 mm.

For Class 3 ASTM A533 boiler plate, the maximum thickness of Class A/B/C/D plate is 2.5 inches, or 65 mm, and the thickness of Class E plate is up to 2 inches, or 50 mm.
