Product description
Alloys 317LMN and 317L are molybdenum-containing austenitic stainless steels that provide better resistance to chemical erosion than conventional chromium-nickel austenitic stainless steels such as alloy 304. Additionally, in high temperature applications, alloys 317LMN and 317L have greater fracture strength and better ductility than ordinary Stainless Steel. All are low carbon or "L" grades and provide resistance to sensitization during welding and other heat treatment processes. “M” and “N” refer to components containing increased amounts of molybdenum and nitrogen. The combination of molybdenum and nitrogen helps improve resistance to pitting and cavitation, especially in high temperature environments containing acidic compounds, chlorides and sulfides. Nitrogen also helps improve the strength of these alloys. Both alloys are designed for harsh environments such as flue gas desulfurization systems.

Alloys 317L and 317LMN ss Pipe are more resistant to atmospheric and other light corrosion than conventional chromium-nickel stainless steels. In general, environments that are non-corrosive to 18Cr-8Ni steel are not corrosive to molybdenum-containing alloys, with the exception of strong oxidizing acids (e.g. Nitric acid).
321 stainless steel is a heat-resistant, stable austenitic Ni-Cr-Mo alloy typically used in the temperature range of 1000-1600°C. 321 stainless steel is primarily used in applications with constant and intermittent operating temperatures with carbide emissions ranging from 800°C. -1500F. Type 321 is similar to Type 304 seamless stainless steel pipe, but contains at least five times more carbon. This addition reduces or prevents carbide precipitation during welding and in service conditions of 800–1500°C. For optimal resistance to intergranular formation corrosion and polythionate stress corrosion cracking at operating temperatures of 1500°-1650°, the use of air cooling is possible.
