ASTM B365 / F560 Tantalum R05400 Round Bar
Tantalum is often alloyed with other metals to form carbide tools, is extremely inert except with hydrofluoric and sulfuric acids, and is also susceptible to corrosion by alkaline solutions. Tantalum Alloy Rod has a melting point of 2996 degrees Celsius and has excellent corrosion resistance in most acid combinations. Our tantalum products can be easily processed at room temperature and have very high thermal conductivity. These unique properties make them critical for certain applications and well worth the high cost. We also offer our products in different sizes and shapes as per clients' requirements.
One of the main uses of tantalum is in the production of electronic components. The oxide layer formed on the surface of tantalum can act as an insulating (dielectric) layer. Because tantalum can be used to coat other metals in very thin layers, high capacitance can be achieved in a smaller volume. This makes tantalum capacitors attractive for portable electronics such as mobile phones.
