There are two types of medical grade titanium alloy plates: Ti-6AL4V and Ti-6AL4VELI, alloys made from 6% aluminum and 4% vanadium, are the most common types of titanium used in medicine. Due to their harmonizing factor with the human body, these Titanium Alloys are widely used in medical surgeries as well as body piercings. Also known as Gr. 5 and Gr. 23, these are some of the most familiar and readily available types of titanium in the U.S. There are a number of distributors that specialize in these specific grades of titanium.

Ti-6AL4V and Ti-6AL4VELI offer higher fracture resistance when used in dental implants. Implant surgery begins with the insertion of a titanium screw into the jawbone.
