Titanium was discovered by Rev. William Gregor in Creede, Cornwall, England in 1791 and independently by MH Klaproth in Berlin, Germany in 1795. Titanium is a hard, lustrous, silver-colored metal obtained by the reduction of tetrachloride by magnesium or calcium. It is a relatively abundant element, occurring in the earth's crust at 5,600 ppm. it forms a protective oxide coating and is therefore resistant to corrosion, although powdered metals burn in air. Titanium tends to be inert at low temperatures, but combines with various reagents at high temperatures. Titanium and its alloys are lightweight, strong, and corrosion-resistant, and are widely used in aerospace applications. In addition, these properties make the material suitable for medical applications (e.g. hip replacements). Titanium dioxide (TiO2) is used as a white pigment in paints and plastics because of its excellent opacity. The same material is also used to make heat-resistant and durable glass, in which titanium dioxide replaces a percentage of soda. Titanium carbide is used to make cemented carbides.
We can also supply Nickel Alloys, Tungsten Alloy, Molybdenum Alloy in any form.
