Molybdenum-tungsten alloy (Mo-W alloy) has excellent protection against corrosion of molten zinc and can be used at higher temperatures than molybdenum or molybdenum alloys. Stanford Advanced Materials (SAM) offers molybdenum-tungsten alloys (Mo-W alloys) in different shapes with custom proportions of zirconium, hafnium and carbon. Standard shapes include rods, sheets, plates, discs, and special shapes available on request.

Molybdenum and tungsten alloy applications

Molybdenum-tungsten alloy has higher resistance to zinc corrosion than pure metal molybdenum, and is used in some corrosion-resistant parts of zinc liquid temperature measuring tubes, zinc liquid pump rotors, and zinc smelting furnaces.

Molybdenum-tungsten alloy can also be used in the gas rudder and protective cover of solid rocket motors due to its high melting point, resistance to ablation and solid particle flame erosion.
