Nickel-Based Alloy Steel Pipe
Nickel-based alloys are widely used in several industries due to their various beneficial properties. They are used in applications such as gas turbines, pumps, valves and other components that are exposed to extreme conditions beyond the capabilities of other alloys such as Stainless Steel. These features were not always common in the early 1900s.
Traditionally, alloys have consisted solely of nickel and chromium, but this combination is not suitable for the extreme conditions faced by today's nickel-based components. It was not until the development of nickel-based “superalloys” that this material was brought into the mainstream by the aerospace and energy industries that required significant resistance to corrosion and stress corrosion. It took us nearly a century to find the alloy compositions of the components used in these extreme environments today.
Applications and Characteristics of Nickel Alloys
Nickel and Nickel Alloy pipe have a wide range of applications, most of which involve corrosion resistance and/or heat resistance. Some of these include:
aircraft gas turbine
steam turbine power plant
medical applications
Nuclear power system
Chemical and petrochemical industry
Heating and resistance components
Isolators and actuators for communications
car spark plug
Welding consumables
power cable
